MTA Goes Down In A Blaze Of Glory

Friday, January 30th, 2009

This past Wednesday, authorities said they finally had arrested the MTA crew, including “Smear.” In a series of raids conducted Wednesday morning, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials arrested Cristian Gheorghiu (32), aka “Smear”, at his home in the east Hollywood area. They also arrested Shaun Alexander, 27; Sergio Ayala, 25; Eduin Miramontes, 23; Nicholas Rem, 28; Juan Rocha, 22; and Ryan Swenson, 27, also at their homes in the Los Angeles area.

According to the Los Angeles County Sherrif’s office MTA is responsible for some of the city’s most notorious acts of vandalism, most notably L.A.’s largest tag: the giant, half-mile-long “MTA” scrawl that appeared last year along the concrete banks of the Los Angeles River near downtown. More information will surely follow.

Weekly World News Update

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

So, I’ve decided instead of continually posting about single news articles, I will now post a “weekly world news update” in which I will group all of the news articles I’ve come across to post into one giant news update. So, here we go!

Just getting mad won’t solve our city’s graffiti plague – You’re damn right it won’t. You guys up in Stockton need to wake up to the real problem, which the writer of this specific news piece tried to convey.

Cops Nab Bay Ridge Graffiti PerpsPolice have not ruled out that the graffiti could be gang related because it included the characters “L2D.” …not always the case Mr. smart investigator! I swear to God I’d take all of your jobs!

More to come very soon.

“JEL” – TKO; Featured on America’s Most Wanted

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

JEL - TKO; tag on a train.I can’t believe this is the first time I heard about this story as it’s been on AMW’s website since February and was also aired on local network TV last week on the infamous television show.

Here’s the details:

Cops say Candy Ellen Srichandr is bad news: a graffiti artist and a stripper, they say she’s gone from defacing public property with her spray paint to taking part in a heinous murder. When gunfire erupted at a SoCal art show, a family man who Srichandr considered a rival was dead, and Candy was nowhere to be found. Now, police have put this Valley Girl where she belongs: in a cage.

That’s a direct quote from the America’s Most Wanted website.

The story will be airing within the next half hour on FOX 11 (channel 11 on basic cable) in southern California.

More quotes:

In the middle on the night on February 8, 2008, cops say Candy Srichandr was nabbed in Long Beach, Calif. Investigators were tracking her journey with the assistance of your leads, and they knew for sure she was hiding out in St. Louis and parts of Colorado.

It wasn’t until an anonymous tipster contacted a U.S. Marshal in Los Angeles to tell him that Srichandr may be hiding out at a residence in Long Beach. Our investigator and his team headed out to the location — but not expecting to find Srichandr.

They honestly thought she was still in Colorado. To their surprise, she was inside the residence, arrested her immediately, and shipped her off to the Van Nuys station in the San Fernando Valley. She’s locked behind bars, and awaiting her hearing with a judge.

More to come!

UPDATE:
I’ve been getting loads of feedback about this post and you guys need to calm down.
About posting images of graff when I find them: If you don’t want certain people to know where you are and where you’re getting up then maybe you shouldn’t get up at all? Don’t blame me for your own stupidity, you shouldn’t even be graffing in illegal spots to begin with.
About “name dropping”: I post the names of the writers where it’s already legible! If I can’t read it or don’t recognize the writer myself I won’t post a name. And isn’t having a handle enough to hide behind anyways? I mean, that’s what they’re used for, right? So, please, stop blaming others for your own stupidity. Pzz.

Drinking and Writing = Lesson Learned

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

You know, I used to often drink when I would be out writing, or maybe it was the other way around, either way I’m very glad to have never been incarcerated for drunk and writing. The following news piece should be a lesson learned for all of you who like to get a little tipsy when you’re out and about!

Athens police arrested two men yesterday morning and charged them with criminal mischief for painting graffiti on three storage buildings.

Police Captain Marty Bruce saie 23-year-old Luis Cuarado and 26-year-old Humberto Torres were each charged with three counts of third-degree criminal mischief and one count of public intoxication.

Bruce said Torres was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon after police found him carrying a pair of nunchuks.

Bruce said an officer saw the men drop some objects by a utility pole and noticed that Cuarado had red paint on his hand. The officer found two cans of red spray paint at the utility pole.

Bruce said Sergeant Jason White determined that Cuarado and Torres had painted graffiti on the three buildings near the Alabama Veterans Museum on Pryor Street.

Digital Camera Picture Causes Incarceration

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Just archiving an interesting news piece. Carry on.

The graffiti tagger “RESF” was apprehended by the PBP Graffiti Task Force at Brashear High School and charged with 5 counts of Graffiti Vandalism.

Police say the suspect was originally wanted for numerous counts of graffiti vandalism in the Brookline area of the City.

He was allegedly caught in the act of defacing a wall in November by a vigilant citizen who snapped a picture with a digital camera of him.

With the help of citizens of Pittsburgh, Graffiti Task Force was able to obtain information and apprehend the juvenile without incident.

Police believe the juvenile may also be responsible for tagging in the Dormont Area of the City.

That incident is currently under investigation with the Dormont Police Department.

Delaware Seriously Cracking Down

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

They really aren’t playin’ at all in Delaware. But this guy got a bit too crazy and hit a church…consequences.

In the past month, graffiti tags such as SON and MAG scrawled in orange, silver, yellow or gold spray paint have been turning up on the sides of numerous businesses in Prices Corner, Belvedere and Christiana Hundred.

Investigators probing these acts of vandalism Thursday arrested the alleged vandal — a 21-year-old Newport man — and charged him with defacing more than a dozen area properties.

Following a raid at his home, state police charged Joseph T. Marro Jr. of the 500 block of Augustine St. with 10 counts of graffiti, one count of possession of graffiti tools, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription drugs not in their original container.

Marro was released after posting $7,000 bail, state police Cpl. Jeff Whitmarsh said.

During the search of his home, detectives confiscated a large bag of magnum markers, Sharpies and other markers in various colors commonly used to produce graffiti work, 13 grams of marijuana and a marijuana pipe.

Investigators also seized Marro’s computer and art work.

During questioning, Marro waived his rights, police said, and acknowledged that he was responsible for spray painting his tags, including SON, at these businesses:

•Cash Advance, 2000 Newport-Gap Pike.

•Boston Market, 3130 Kirkwood Highway.

•Jersey barrier, Del. 100 south of Del. 2.

•Celestial Church of Christ, 1110 Newport-Gap Pike, Belvedere. (WTF were you thinking?!!)

•McDonald’s in Midway Plaza, 4625 Kirkwood Highway.

•Ted’s Liquors, 1202 Newport-Gap Pike, Belvedere.

•7-Eleven, 298 S. Maryland Ave., north of Boxwood Road, Christiana Hundred.

Pyro Being Held, Illinois

Monday, October 8th, 2007

While fleeing the scene this dude drops his blackbook, a shoe, and ditches all his paint. Cops find it all. Lesson learned?

A man police believe is a graffiti artist called “Pyro” was arrested last week in West City on Franklin County Charges. Saline County charges are pending in the case.

Michael L. Williams, 20, 11 Small St., Harrisburg, was arrested 12:42 p.m. Wednesday in Harrisburg for the West City Police on a charge of criminal damage to property between $300 and $10,000. He was taken to the Franklin County Jail for booking.

West City Police believe he is responsible for painting graffiti on the rear wall of the CVS pharmacy in West City early Monday, Oct. 1. He is also believed to be responsible for several graffiti paintings earlier this summer in Harrisburg, including several “taggings” on Church Street.

West City Police Chief Steve Mumbower said the village’s overnight patrol officer interrupted the suspect early Oct. 1 in the act of completing the fourth of four drawings on the wall of the pharmacy at the Rend Lake Plaza.

The suspect, also known as the “Roof Side Writer,” fled into a nearby woods before completing the lettering.

But in his haste to escape, he left behind what Mumbower called two key pieces of evidence: a shoe and a notebook containing many incriminating drawings and a telephone number belonging to the man’s girlfriend.

I Hope This Kid Gets Caught

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

You know, I’ve never really hoped for someones incarceration for graffiti before. But this little kid takes the cake. There’s rules that you need to follow kid. Obviously you were never taught them or maybe you were just too stupid to follow them. Either way I hope they catch you.

A graffiti tagger struck the landmark Crystal Cathedral shortly after the church held a community festival, doing tens of thousands of dollars in damage, a church spokesman said Tuesday.

The tagger struck around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and damaged the base of the famous glass spire and other buildings at the church, said Ben Rhodes, a cathedral spokesman.

Church officials later determined that the tagger, who appeared to be in his early 20s, etched the symbol “B1R” into 11 spots. Repairs will cost at least $38,000, Rhodes said.

My Notes: The news article above reported that the kid scribed “B1R”, but I analyzed the pictures and video they took and also noticed his full nick is “BATER”. So, whoever knows this guy please check him for the whole community.
